Determination of the contents of total flavonoids in lonicera japonica and its leaves by three wavelength spectrophotometry

A three wavelength spectrophotometry for the determination of the contents of total flavonoids in Lonicera japonica and its leaves was studied by using 5,7-dihydroxy-6,4′-dimethoxyflavone as a reference substance and aluminum trichloride as a colorimetric reagent.The linear range of the method was 1.92~19.20 μg/mL with the correlation coefficient of r=0.9997.The average recoveries were 96.6%,97.1%,and RSDs were 1.4%,2.3%(n=4).By selecting the three wavelengths appropriately,the absorbance of interfering components can be corrected efficiently.The method is feasible for the determination of the contents of total flavonoids in plants.
