Determination of triclosan in aqueous cosmetic by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

A detection method of triclosan content in aqueous cosmetic by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was established. The sample of the emollient water was purified by the HLB solid-phase extraction column,and separated on a C 18 liquid chromatographic column with acetonitrile and water as mobile phase,and identified with negative electrospray ionization( ESI-) in multiple reaction monitoring( MRM) mode,the matrix matched external standard was used for the quantitative analysis. The standard calibration curve for triclosan was in good linearity between the signal strength and the concentration from 0. 2 to 50 ng / mL,and the correlation coefficient( r2) was 0. 9995. The limit of detection was 0. 2 ng/mL and the limit of quantification was 0. 5 ng / mL. The mean recoveries of the method for triclosan at three spiked concentration levels of 1. 0,2. 0,10 ng / mL ranged from 97. 6% to 113%,and the relative standard deviations were less than 15%. The method has high sensitivity,good repeatability,high recovery,and it is simple and efficient,which can meet the requirements for fast detection of triclosan in emollient water.
