Determination of iron and zinc in mik power by closed vessel microwave digestion flame atomic absorption spectrometry

A new method based on the techniques of closed vessel microwave digestion and derivative flame atomic absorption spectrome- try is presented for the determination of iron and zinc in milk powder. The absorption signal is processed by a home-made deriva- tive measurement apparatus. The experimental results demonstrate that microwave digestion is a more rapid and accurate sample treatment method than conventional wet digestion method and the derivetive flame atomic absorption spectrometry is much mores sensitive. The combination of the two techniques is able to reduce analysis time, increase sensitivity, and improve detection limit and pecision.
