Design of an apparatus for purifying and analyzing metal of nitrogenase

An anaerobic preparative liquid chromatographic apparatus has been assembled for seiparating and purifying metal clusters of nitrogenase active certer and analyzing their physical and chemical parameters qualitatively. The apparatus con sists of a chromatographic column, a flow pump, a conventional spectrophotometer (equiped with a home-made colorimetric flowing cell), a double-pen recorder, a sample collector and an anaerobic cabinet. It can be used for separating, purifying and analyzing other large biological molecules, such as proteins, carbohydrates and nuclear acids also. In addition, a device for recovering poi sonous n-methylformamide during the preparative process is described.
