Lin Liben;Zhang Haiou (Affiliated People'Hospital,FCTCM;Shouling Hospital,Fujian)
There are varied meanings in TCM dampness, which can be concluded as two kinds-normal dampness and abnormal dampness.Damp-evil means varied pathogenic factors related to meteorological factors in later summer. The occurrence of a disease caused by damp-evil depends on the internal factor of human body. The patient with the constitution of stickiness and stagnation easier to be attacked by damp-evil.The pathological basis of damp syndrome is the imbalance of water metabolism of whole body or local part. There are three methods for treating damp syndrome:resolving dampness, drying dampness and inducing diuresis. The principle is promoting the function of metabolism for eliminating the pathology of water retention.
