STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF Pd/Pt COMPONENTS AND CO ON ACTIVITY OF Pd(Pt)/A1_2O_3 CATALYSTS IN H_2-O_2 REACTION BY TEMPERATURE PROGRAMMED CATALYTIC REACTION TECHNIQUE

The effect of Pd/Pt components and CO on activity of Pd(Pt)/ A12O3 catalysts in H2-O2 reaction was studied by the combination of temperature programmed catalytic reaction, temperature programmed adsorption-desorption and in situ IR spectrometric measurement. The experimental results show that: in the absence of CO in feedgas Pt catalyst is more active than Pd-Pt bimetallic catalyst, but in the presence of CO in feedgas Pd-Pt catalyst is more active than Pt catalyst. H2 oxidation is inhibited by CO due to the competitive adsorption between H2 and CO and the competitive reactions between H2 oxidation and CO oxidation on the catalyst surface. When oxygen content is below stoichiometric, carbonaceous deposition from dispro portionation of CO is more serious on Pt catalyst than on Pd-Pt catalyst.
