Effects of CeO2 on Dispersion State and Catalytic Property of CuO/Al2O3

Effect of the addition of CeO2 on the catalytic activity of CuO/\|Al2O3 catalyst for CO oxidation reaction was investigated by a microreactorGC system flow technique. The crystal phase structure, the reducing property of CuO\|CeO2/Al2O3 catalyst were studied by means of XRD, TPR and XPS. Experimental results show that the addition of CeO2 increased the dispersion of CuO, which results in the disappearance of the CuO characteristic diffraction peak and improves the catalytic activity. In addition, CuO existed on the catalyst surface mainly in the state of Cu2+and O2-when the CeO2 loading is low, and in the state of Cu2+, Cu+ and O2- when the CeO2 loading is high.
