Experimental study on cantilever concrete filled steel tube columns

CHEN Bao-chun, WANG Lai-yong, CHEN Shui-sheng (College of Civil Engineering and Architectures, Fuzhou University, Fuzhou, Fujian 350002, China)  
Total of 4 group and 13 specimens of CFST short cantilever columns subjected to compression-bending loads are tested. The parameters of these experiments are axial load ratio, steel ratio and strength of concrete.From the analysis of the experiment results, it is indicated that the axial load ratio on behaviors of CFST subjected to compression-bending loads is the most significant effect factor. The confinement effect on the concrete by steel tube increases as the axial load ratio become large. Finally, several horizontal loads corresponding to some typical values of the maximum compression strains of steel and the test ultimate loads of the specimens are analysesd.
