Problems Existing in Current Seismic Response Analysis for Soil Layers

The current widely used methods of seismic response analysis for soil layers in engineering are equivalent linearization frequency domain method which is based on FFT and iterative method.This article briefly introduces these methods and reappears the four problems existing in them in combination with practical work.Firstly,the program could not run when some individual discrete point numbers from acceleration time history are input.Secondly,the calculation results become abnormal when soft layer exists at the bottom of a soil profile.Thirdly,the calculation results seem unreasonable under stronger input earthquake motions and softer sites.Fourthly,dead cycle phenomena may occur.Directions aiming at solving the 4 problems are pointed out to perfect current method of seismic response analysis for soil layers,the development direction is also prospected.
