Dyeing thermodynamics of collagen modified acrylic fibers

The morphological structure of collagen modified acrylic fibers was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy,and the fibers were dyed with Cationic Red X-GRL.The adsorption isotherm line of the fibers was plotted and the dyeing affinity,dyeing heat and entropy were calculated,and then the data were compared with those of common acrylic fibers.The results showed that the adsorption isotherm line for Cationic Red X-GRL on collagen modified acrylic fiber is a Langmuir-type which is similar to that of common acrylic fibers.They had much lower dye affinity,dyeing heat and dyeing entropy than common acrylic fibers when dyed with Cationic Red X-GRL at the same temperature.The adsorptive mechanism of the collagen modified acrylic fibers belongs to chemical adsorption,single-layered and positioned,its bonding with Cationic Red X-GRL is of coulombic bonding.
