Screening of Rice Germplasms for Tolerance to Low-nitrogen Using SPAD-value by Chlorophyll Meter

Under condition of low nitrogen, rice cultivars vary obviously in response to low-nitrogen, which can be reflected very good by SPAD-value. The 151 rice germplasms collected through the project International Rice Molecular Breeding were used as gene donor parents while Dianjingyou1 was used as the recurrent parent. 5 500 progenies were developed and used as materials in this study. SPAD-values of rice plant were used to eval-uate the tolerance to low-nitrogen in the field with low-nitrogen naturally. The relative SPAD-values measured in different sites were used as reference. Madhukar and UPR191-66 were screened as germplasms for tolerance to low-nitrogen.
