Identification of AFLP and SCAR Molecular Markers Linked to Bolting Trait in Radish

AFLP biotechnology was applied to identify the markers linked to bolting trait in radish based on BSA method. Two markers (ACG-CAG (123 bp) and ACT-CTG (175 bp)) were found to be tightly linked to the gene with genetic distance of 14.6 cM and 9.1 cM, respectively. Sequence and Blast analysis indicated that ACG-CAG (123 bp) marker has 89% homology with the cDNA of Arabidopsis thaliana ZFP3 (zinc finger protein 3) and the expect ratio is 6e-23; ACT-CTG (175 bp) marker has 83% homology with copia-like retrotransposon AtRE1 gene of Arabidopsis thaliana and the expect ratio is 4e-42. One of the AFLP markers (ACT-CTG) linked to bolting gene has been converted into a SCAR marker successfully.
