EFFECT OF ACCELERATED COOLING ON MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CONTROLLED ROLLED PIPE LINE STEELS

Two pipe line steel specimens with 60 mm thickness were deformed to 8 mm thickness in five passes in either recrystallized or non recrystallized austenite regions subsequent to austenitization at 1200 ℃ After hot rolling, the specimens were spray water cooled and then furnace cooled from 500 ℃ and 400 ℃ to simulate coiling process The result shows that under the appropriate cooling process, the microstructure that contains mainly acicular ferrite could be obtained in all the two steels
