The Characteristic of Temperature/Vegetation Drought Index(TVDI) and Its Application in Remote Sensing Drought Monitoring in Guizhou

The temperature/vegetation drought index based on the remote sensing technology can raise the precision of remote sensing drought monitoring by effectively reducing the impact of vegetation cover degree.The TVDI method and remote sensing data monitored by(EOS) MODIS in July and August,2006 and August,2007 were used to analyze and reveal the unique and complex NDVI-Ts space structure in Guizhou.The surface soil drought condition was inversed and verified with the soil moisture data from local weather stations simultaneously.The results showed that there was a significant coorelation between TVDI and soil moisture,which expresses the TVDI method can be used in drought monitoring and early warning of the areas with complex terrain.
