Effect of Betaine on Physiological Characteristics of Buckwheat Seedlings Under Salt Stress

The salt tolerance index of TQ-808buckwheat seedlings treated by betaine solution with different concentration under salt stress was determined to study the effect of betaine on physiological characteristics of buckwheat seedlings.The results showed that when buckwheat seedlings were treated by 60mmol/L betaine,the membrane permeability and MDA content of buckwheat leaves reduced by 44.15% and 38.41%and the SOD activity and net photosynthetic rate of buckwheat leaves increased by 65.70% and 100% under salt stress respectively,which indicated that betaine with the good relaxation effect on salt stress could improve the physiological characteristics of buckwheat seedlings under salt stress obviously.The optimum betaine concentration to improve the salt tolerance of buckwheat is 60mmol/L.
