Application of cross-section electromagnetic tomography technique in detecting karst cave under the ground of buildings

The cross-section electromagnetic tomography technique and its operation method have been introduced in this paper.This technique had been applied to detect karst cave in a ground of a high building.Based on the rule of different rock and soil with different ability of absorbing the energy of electromagnetic,the data obtained from the site have been interpreted.Combined the data by inversion method for electromagnetic tomography,plan and section plan of karst cave distribution are obtained.Comparison has been done between the result of the cross-section electromagnetic topography technique and the data from the borehole,it indicates that the cross-section electromagnetic topography technique is effective in karst cave detection.Three dimension space distribution of karst cave can be obtained by inversion analysis,so it can be used to provide detailed geological data for the design of the foundation of high buildings.
