Experimental study on permeability characteristics of typical media in the alluvial plain of Yellow River

Based on Darcy's law, the permeability tests with constant hydraulic head elevation for the typical media of the Yellow River alluvial plain are conducted to study the relationship between the composition of permeable media and the permeability coefficient, and the relationship between constant hydraulic head elevation and Darcy's law. The results show that: The permeability coefficient is positively correlated with sand content in the media, inversely correlated with clay content and powder content. The media with the Reynolds number less than 1 may also not obey Darcy's law. The hydraulic head elevation may affect the flow pattern of the media deviating from Darcy's law. It is preliminarily believed that with the increase of the hydraulic head elevation, the pressure between the testing media increases, which results in the particle redistribution during the testing. This study is of great practical significance to understand the permeability characteristics of groundwater in this area and the permeability of lithological media.
