FATIGUE-LIFE ANALYSIS OF ICE-RESISTANT PLATFORMS

Based on field observation results, the necessity of ice-induced fatigue analysis of ice-resistant platforms is analyzed. The results show that the jacket platforms in Bohai Sea are typical compliant ice-resistant structures because of exceptive environmental condition and oil distributing. The ice-induced vibration not only causes great acceleration response but also significant alternate stress, so the ice-induced fatigue life should be analyzed in the design. The method of accurately estimating ice-induced fatigue life is not mature at present, and the fatigue ice load and the fatigue environmental model are two key problems. The dynamical ice force and environmental condition for fatigue life evaluation of ice-resistant conical structure are discussed based on field test, which is helpful to fatigue analysis in detail.
