APPLICATION OF RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY IN THE OPTIMIZATION DESIGN OF VANED DIFFUSER

In this paper, the optimization design of the vaned diffusers is performed by the Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Through changing vane number and exit installation angle to construct candidate diffusers which are analyzed by CFD, sample data is then setup. The optimum design points with RSM based on different samples are almost in the same area and there is little error compared with the CFD result. It shows RSM can be able to fit the relation between design variant and response variant by less samples, and will become a power tool in the prediction of the performance and in the multi-variants optimization design in turbo-machinery field.
