INVESTIGATION OF STRUCTURE AND EXTINCTION OF STRETCHED LAMINAR DIFFUSION FLAMELET

A stretched laminar diffusion flamelet is numerically simulated. The assumption of unity Lewis number in the flamelet model of turbulent combustion is examined and the influence of differential diffusion and radiation on the flamelet structure, nitric oxide emission and extinction limit is investigated. The numerical results indicate that the assumption of unity Lewis number is a great approximation and the flame radiation can induce an extinction limit at a low strain rate.
