HC1 and PCDD/Fs emission characteristics of a 150 t/d municipal solid waste (MSW) circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) incinerator are studied when wastes containing different chlorine contents are incinerated with/without calcium-base additive. The results indicate that HC1 and PCDD/Fs concentration in flue gas increases with waste weight ratio, the amounts of PCDD/Fs depend on combustion conditions of the incinerator if chlorine input is invariable. PCDD/Fs go up in flue gas with chlorine input, in fly ash with improvement of combustion conditions. HC1 and PCDD/Fs emission can be reduced effectively by introducing calcium base. In accordance with present waste composition in China, PCDD/Fs emission is low when coal or mixture of coal and MSW is burned.
