ANALYSIS ON APPLICABILITY OF ENHANCED FINS

Issue regarding the applicability of enhanced fins was raised and then discussed with the fin-tube heat exchanger as an example. The air passage for such an exchanger can be considered to consist of three components, including the exchanger, air passage outside the exchanger, and fan. It is pointed out that the effect of enhanced fins depends on not only the performance of the fins themselves but also the relative magnitude of the air pressure drop occurring in the passage outside the exchanger. The greater the pressure drop outside the exchanger relative to that in the exchanger, the more advantageous the use of enhanced fins.
