EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERIC STUDY ON HEAT TRANSFER AND FLOW RESISTANCE IN ALTERNATING ELLIPTICAL AXIS TUBES

An experimental and numeric study was carried out for the alternating elliptical axis tubes. The fitted correlation was derived for the experimental heat transfer and resistance coefficients. The strong secondary flow and multi-longitudinal vortex flow induced by the cross-sectional change in the alternating elliptical axis tubes could improve the coordination relationship between the velocity and the temperature fields. The experimental and numerical simulation results show that the flow in the alternating elliptical axis tubes turn into the turbulent flow with Re (?) 500 and has a remarkable enhancement.
