Design of micro-feeding tool holder used in turning machining

The design theory and design calculation method of a new type of micro-feeding tool holder(MFTH),driven by PZT and taking double parallel four-bar flexure hinges as elastic deforming component,are presented.On the precondition that output distance of MFTH is known,theoretic reference of PZT actuator selection and calculation method of equivalent stiffness of flexure hinges are put forward.Furthermore,structure design of flexure hinges,system stiffness calculation of MFTH and modal analysis of tool holder are carried out.By utilizing FEA application and experiments,design theory and design calculation method is tested.As part of design method of tool holder,practical performance parameters are measured by experiments and the measured data demonstrates the reliability of this method.
