Analysis on the Difference of SST Variations during Two Strongest El Nino Events of 20th Century in Pearl River Estuary

By comparative analysis on the SST variations in Pearl River estuary,the reasons that caused the difference of SST variations during two strongest El Nino events of 20th century in 1982/1983 and 1997/1998 are investigated.Results show that the total solar irradiance that reached the ground was higher in 1982/1983 than that in 1997/1998,South China Sea high pressure was weaker in 1982/1983 than that in 1997/1998,and the winter wind speed was 1 ~ 2 m/s greater in 1982/1983 than that in 1997/1998.And these can be of important references for SST forecasting in Pearl River estuary.
