Drought and Flood Events during Early Flood Season in Foshan with Analysis on the Circulation Anomaly

Based on precipitation data from Foshan observatory and the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data,with methods like significance test of two dimensional wind field difference,the precipitation anomalies during early flood season in Foshan were analyzed as well as the horizontal wind fields and the vertical meridional circulation in drought/flood years respectively.Results show that multiple temporal scale oscillations are found in the precipitation time series during early flood season in Foshan yet with no evident climate change;the wind fields at 850hPa over tropical areas of central and northern part of South China Sea and the west Pacific Ocean in drought years are quite different from those in flood years.The key areas for drought/flood events in early flood season are northwest and south flank of subtropical high.Besides,vertical meridional circulations are also found to be significantly different between flood and drought years.The significant areas of wind fields in northern hemisphere are South China Sea and South China at middle and lower levels.
