Comparison of UV-VIS Spectrophotometry for the Detection of Flavonoids in Chrysanthemum

Yang Ming,Wu Zhiyi,Wu Chuan,Ma Baojuan(Department of Chemical Engineering,Guangdong Industry Technical College,Guangzhou 510300,China)  
Total flavonoid content in chrysanthemum was determined by VIS spectrophotometry and UV-spectrophotometry.The contrast sample was rutin for VIS spectrophotometry in which revealing agent was Al(NO3)3,total flavonoid content was analyzed in wavelength 510 nm.The contrast sample was also rutin for UV-spectrophotometry,total flavonoid content was analyzed in wavelength 359 nm.Compared with the results obtained from VIS spectrophotometry and UV-spectrophotometry,it was found that UV-spectrophotometry was a better method for detection of total flavonoid content in chrysanthemum.
