The Chemical Characteristics of Aging Landfill Leachate and the Purifying Effect of Several Wetland Substrates

Aging landfill leachate has high alkalinity,ion concentration and high concentration of ammonia nitrogen,total phosphorus and COD.We take the advantage of coal gangue,coal ash,ardealite and kaolin,to study the effect of different substrates to decontaminate the contaminations in leachate by static adsorption.The results shown that adding the four kinds of substrate can all buffer the alkalinity of the leachate.Among them the ardealite shown the stronger ability to neutralization,.The adding of coal ash and kaolin not only can decrease the concentration of ions significantly,but also the concentration of ammonia nitrogen,total phosphorus and COD,which is better than gangue and ardealite.There are various kinds of heavy metals in the aging leachate and low usage substrates shows a good removal efficiency to heavy metal.But the concentration of heavy metals in the leachate increased gradually and then reached equilibrium when adding the quantity of substrate.
