Study on combining ability of main agronomic characters in three-line indica hybrid rice

Experiment selected 5 male sterile lines(Zhan A,Shuangqing A,Wanjin A,22 A,Zhenshan 97A),5 restorers(R128,R122,R46-1,R15,Zhilong).25 Hybrid rice were made by way of incomplete diallete cross(NCⅡ) design.In order to clarifying the quality of the combining ability in the new male sterile lines,we analysis combining ability on characters of agronomic in hybrid F1 from the late season of 2005,the conclusions are as follows:(1)Variance components of GCA were equal to SCA's in total grains per plant;affections of male sterile lines affected the offspring much more than restorers in other characters;(2)Means square of GCA in male sterile lines are bigger than GCA in restorers' in agronomic characters except spike length,full grains per plant,width of rice and length/width of rice;(3)Research on heritability shows,the heritabilities in narrow sense are low in grain weight per plant,full grains per plant,total grains per plant.This point out that we should take the interactions between SCA of offspring and environment into account during the course of breeding.
