Effects of PAR in LED on the growth and quality of Pak-choi (Brassica campestris)in still hydroponics

The purpose of this experiment was to study the effects of different Photosynthetic Active Radiation(PAR) LED(Light Emitting Diode) as full light source on the growth and quality of pak-choi(Brassica campestris)in hydroponics.The LED light source was composed of red with peak at 630 nm(R) and blue with peak at 460 nm(B).Four kinds of PAR(100,150,200,250 μmol/m2.s) LED were designed in the experiment respectively,compareing with the treatment of natural light source(CK).The results indicated that the edge of pak-choi leaves curled downwards both in LED and CK treatments.With the increasing of PAR,the curling of leaves was more serious,but the spindling of pak-choi relieved,and the plants were stronger and biomass and the growth indexes increased.While there were no significant differences of each chlorophyll indexes among the three LED treatments,the VC of pak-choi in LED treatments was higher than that in CK.The pak-choi grew well when the PAR was 200~250 μmol/m2.s.
