Design,Experiment and Practical Application of High Voltage Electrostatic Coalescer

The factors influencing the water droplets electrostatic coalescence were deducted according to the aqueous drops behavior in oil phase subjected to an electric field. The insulated compact electrostatic coalescer was designed to perform the experiment on water-in-oil emulsion. The result indicate that increase in the electric field and the residence time can enhance the efficiency of water droplets coalescence,accelerate its settlement velocity in oil phase and delaminating speed. The high water contents rapidly increase the electric conductivity and are unfavorable for the electrostatic coalescence. The insulated material with high stability and corrosion resistance can be used for avoiding the electric field collapse caused by local current oversized. The compact electrostatic coalescer was designed and produced for field experiment. The results indicate the new coalsecer is fit for practical application,and can significantly decrease power consumption efficiency when water concentration is lower than traditional electric dehydrator.
