Voltage-controlling Methods and Simulation Analysis of Magnetically Saturated and Transformer-type Controllable Reactors

To compare the voltage control performances of a magnetic saturation controlled reactor(MSCR) and a controllable reactor of transformer type(CRT),employing the theory of reactive power compensating of electrical power systems,we constructed transfer function block diagrams of the voltage control systems.Utilizing the engineering design method,we derived the formulae for calculating the parameters of proportional integral(PI) controller.Consequently,a voltage controlling system for controllable reactors was established in the MATLAB/SimPower system,and by instance simulation,the voltage-controlling systems constructed respectively by a MSCR and a CRT were comparatively analyzed.Results are drawn from the analysis as follows: under load changes,both of the voltage control systems can keep the steady line voltage stable on the rated voltage;the dynamic performance of the CRT voltage controlling system is superior to that of the CRT voltage controlling system;and the presented PI control method for a controllable reactor meets the needs of voltage control in power systems while its implementation in projects is easy.
