Multi-index and Comprehensive Weighted Assessment Method for Transformer Compound Insulation Defects Based on Dissolved Gases Analysis

Accompanied by uncertainty and fuzziness, it is hard to diagnose and evaluate compound insulation defects by using present diagnostic approaches. Hence, we introduced the fuzzy theory to develop a method for evaluating compound insulation defects based on a case study of practical insulation defect. Firstly, on the basis of the comprehensive diagnosis methods of oil chromatogram, we used fuzzy vectors to relieve the absolutes of criterion boundaries, adopted fuzzy logics to achieve the fuzzy comprehensive diagnosis of compound insulation defects, and proposed to use occurrence probability weight to represent the possibility of insulation defect happening. Secondly, after analyzing a practical case of transformer defect using the fuzzy comprehensive diagnostic method, we adopted reliability weight to characterize the diagnostic accuracy for different defect types. Finally, taking both the occurrence probability weight and the reliability weight into consideration, we obtained a multi-index method with comprehensive weights for assessing the severity of compound insulation defects in transformers. According the assessment results of several transformer faults, accuracy of the proposed method reaches 91.7%. It is more accurate and more reliable in comparison with conventional dissolved gases analysis(DGA) methods.
