Study on the Enhancement of Nucleate Boiling Heat Transfer by Applying Electric Field

Basic experimental studies have been made for the enhancements of nucleate pool boiling heat transfer outside the smooth tube under alternate electric field by using R11 as the working fluid. The results show that voltage, heat flux and the electrode type have great effects on the heat transfer coefficient. By comparing with pool boiling without electric field, the enhancement factor for the boiling heat transfer with 2.3kV alternate voltage is about 12.5 when the in fine tube electrtode is used.
