The relationship between thermal dosage and experim ental efficiency in the ultrasound hyperthermia of liver cancer

Objective:To explore the effects of ultrasound hyperthermia of different thermal dosage on primary liver cancer im planted in nude m ices and KM mices.Methods:A3.5 MHz transducer was used to ir- radiate two kinds of liver cancer anim al m odels with differenttemperature and duration respectively,the vol- ume of tum ors was measured daily and then curves of tumor volume correlative with tim e were obtained,the experim ental anim als were sacrificed2 weeks after treatment,with the tum or tissues exam ined histological- ly.Results:Tum or in large- dose group( 43℃ ,30′) showed a tendency of decreased tumor volum e with ar- rangement disturbance of cancer cell and coagulation necrosis of large area,where as the volume of tumor in low- dose group( 41℃ ,12′) began to increase on the third day after ultrasound exposure,with nest distribu- tion of cancer cell and fiber hyperplasia in stroma Conclusion:Therm al dosage should be regarded as a key factor during ultrasound hypertherm ia,whereas too low therm al dose m ight promote the growth of malig- nant tumor to som e extent.
