INFLUENCE OF PREDNISONE ON TIBIAL SHAFT CORTIAL BONE IN MALE RATS

This paper deals with the effects of glucocorticord hormone (GC) on male rat bone mineral metabolism. Two groups of male SD rats were administered vehicle or prednisone acetate(4. 5mg/kg) ,twice per week for 90 days. The histomorphometric parameters of the tibial shaft cortical bone were measured and calculated. The labeling perimeter, mineral apposition rate and bone formation rate were significantly decreased in periosteal surface. Insignificant in endosteal surface. Only resorption perimeter greatly increased. The results indicated that GC had different effects in periosteal and endosteal surface which may be associated with blood distribution in two surface.
