Objective: To evaluate esthetic features and development characteristics of lateral profile of children with normal occlusion. Methods:Roentgenographic cephalometry was used in this evaluation. Results: Types Ⅱ,Ⅲ1,and Ⅲ2 of the relations between the nose, lips and jaw account for 27. 9%; the structures of lower 1/3 of the faces vary greatly and there exlsts sex difference in lateral profile. Conclu-sions：Children with normal occlusion do not necessarily mean that they have a beautiful lateral profile, but that they only have the harmonious advantage in lateral profile. The alteration of the nose, lips and iaw is the basis for esthetic evaluation;the sex features existing in craniomaxillary region will partially change due to growth development.
