Influence of the Third Order Dispersion on Stability of Solitons in Birefringent Optical Fibers

WANG Jing, MIAO Hong li (College of Infor. Science and Engin.,Qingdao Univ. of Ocean,Qingdao 266003,China)
Influence of the third order dispersion and birefringent on stability of soliton is investigated. The results show that the linear birefringence leads to amplitude threshold separated the two polarization pulses. The amplitude threshold increase with the third order dispersion. When input pulses amplitude are more than amplitude threshold, the two polarization solitons lock together and travel as one unit.
