GRAFTING COPOLYMERIZATION OF VINYLMONOMER ONT O MODIFIED STARCH

Reaction of grafting copolymerization of v inyl acetate and acrylic acid onto physically modified starch using ammonium per sulfate as initiator was investigated. The grafting copolymerization of vinyl ac etate and acrlyic acid onto modified starch was determinated by infrared spectru m. The effects of the concentrations of monomer, initiator and physically modifi ed starch, temperature and time of reaction on grafting effciency was studied. T he optimal condition of reaction of physically modified starch and vinyl acetate corresponds to a concentration 3.90 mol／L for vinyl acetate, 7.67 mmol ／L for ammonium persulfate, a reaction temperature of 70 ℃ and a reaction time of 3 h; the optimal condition of reaction of physically modified starch and acr ylic acid corresponds to a concentration 2.50 mol／L for acrylic acid, 3.0 mmol／L for ammonium persulfate, a reaction temperature of 60 ℃and a reactio n time of 3 h.
