MORPHOLOGY AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF PP/EPDM/AT COMPOSITES CONTAINING PARTICLES WITH CORE-SHELL STRUCTURE

PP/EPDM/AT composites containing particles with core-shell structure were obtained via the melt-blending process, in which the materbatches of AT and EPDM was made firstly, then added to PP resin. The mechanical properties, morphology, and impact fracture surface of the three component composites were studied by the tensile tester, impact tester, TEM, SEM respectively. It shows that both high toughness and high strength can be obtained by particles in the three component systems with core-shell structure. The Izod impact strengh and tensile yield strengh of the m(PP)/m(EPDM)/m(AT)=100/20/5 composite reach (47.67) kJ/m~2 and (21.95) MPa respectively. The value of the tensile strength and Young′s modulus for three component composite is higher than the PP/EPDM composite.
