Preparation and Penetrative Properties of Thermo-Sensitive Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Nanocapsules

A thermo-sensitive organic-inorganic hybrid nanocapsules were synthesized using octane as template through introducing the comonomer N-isopropylacrylamide(NIPAM) into the miniemulsion copolymerization of styrene(St) and γ-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane(KH-570).The structure and morphology of nanocapsules were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra(FT-IR),transmission electron microscope(TEM) and dynamic light scattering(DLS).The cresol red loading process in the nanocapsules nearby the lower critical solution temperature(LCST) was studied by ultraviolet-spectrophotometer.The influence of the amount of NIPAM on the penetrative property of nanocapsules was investigated.The results show that the complete morphology,uniform and monodisperse nanocapsules are obtained when the amount of NIPAM is 0.4g.The average diameter and shell thickness of nanocapsules are 167nm and 24nm respectively.The penetrative properties of nanocapsules are enhanced obviously with increasing of NIPAM amount.
