STUDIES ON THE PREPARATION OF THE TEMPERATURE & pHSENSITIVE HYDROGELS AND THEIR APRICATION IN THE CONTROLLED RELEASE OF BIOMACROMOLECULE

The preparation of two series of pH and temperaturesensitive hydrogels with different amounts of carbonyl group was described. The polymerization was carried out at 70 ℃ in chloroform by suing AIBN as initiator. These gels are unswollen at 37 ℃ and pH 1.4 and swollen at 37 ℃ and pH 7.4. Papain, a model protein, was loaded in these gels and their bioactivities were compared under different conditions. The results show that when the content of carbonyl group in the gels is higher, the bioactivity of enzyme remaines higher. A high percentage of papain loaded in these gels can be released from them at 37 ℃ and pH 7.4 in a short period of time. These gels might be useful for pH and temperaturecontrolled release of proteins.
