Progress in Polyacrylamide/Layered Inorganic Nanocomposites

Polyacrylamide/layered double hydroxide(PAM/LDH) nanocomposites are novel polymer based nanocomposites with enhanced properties,such as mechanical properties,superabsorbent,thermal stability and gas-barrier properties,and thus have potential applications in the fields of enhanced oil recovery,agriculture and hygiene,etc.This review focuses on recent research progress in PAM/LDH and PAM/clay nanocomposites.First,the exfoliation and dispersion of LDHs in organic solvents and water are introduced.Then,the preparation and structural characterization of PAM/LDH and PAM/clay nanocomposite are discussed.Finally,the properties including rheological,mechanical and super water-absorbent properties of these two types of nanocomposites are reviewed.
