The Characteristic Pattern of Drip Irrigation Infiltration Under Surface Ponding

Drip irrigation is quite different from other forms of irrigation. Water moves across the soil surface away from the drip emitter until the infiltration rate of the pond area matches the emitter discharge rate. The relationship between increased rate of horizontal and vertical wetting front and infiltration time was remarkable power function. The emitter discharge rate has remarkable effects on the ratio between horizontal and vertical wetting front. The steady-state infiltration flux (Jo) of trickle source infiltration was higher than that of steady-state infiltration rate under one dimension vertical infiltration, and Jo become small when discharge increased. The relationship between and reciprocal of surface pond radius is a straight line, and the intercept is an approximate value of saturated soil water conductivity.
