Spatial and Temporal Distribution Characteristics of Droughts and Floodings Based on SPIin Huaihe Basin

According to the monthly meteorological data from 32 stations in Huaihe basin,spatial-temporal distribution characteristics of drought and flood changes in recent 50 years in Huaihe region were analyzed using standardized precipitation index(SPI),experience orthogona decomposition function and rotating orthogonal function.Results showed that flood and drought mainly appeared alternately in summer and autumn in Huaihe basin.There was a certain consistency for distribution of drought and flood,and spatial variability exsited due to the topography and geomorphology,the geographical position and monsoon.
