COMPARATIVE RESEARCH OF ENDOCRINE CELLS IN THE DIGESTIVE TRACT OF RANA AMURENSIS DURING HIBERNATION AND NON-HIBERNATING PERIOD

Objective To observe the endocrine cells in the digestive tract of Rana amurensis in and out of hibernation. Methods We used the avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex (ABC) immunohistochemical method and the anti5-HT,anti-SS,anti-PP and anti-SP serums. Results 5-HT,SS and Glu cells were detected in the digestive tract of Rana Amurensis,but GAS , PP and SP cells were not. 5-HT cells distributed widely,observed throughout the digestive tract of Rana Amurensis from esophagus to rectum. The distributive density of 5-HT cells was the highest in pylorus and duodenum in hibernation,but in the pylorus during non-hibernating time.SS cells distributed widely too, observed in the whole digestive tract except the rectum. The highest density of the SS cells was both in the pylorus during the two periods. Glu cells were detected only in gastric cardia, gastric body, jejunum and ileum in hibernation,but also in rectum during the non-hibernating period.The density of Glu distribution peaks in the gastric body.Conclusion The different distribution patterns of endocrine cells in the digestive tract of Rana amurensis in the hibernating and non-hibernating periods may be related to the adaptation to different physiological functions.
