Priliminary Study on the Distribution of Dry and Humid Climate Conditions in Xinjiang Arid Zone

By means of the Cluster and Discriminant Analysis, the author classifiedthe dry and humid climate conditions of Xinjiang into five types: humidity,semi-humidity, aridity, semi-aridity, and extreme aridity. The total areasof the semi-aridity, aridity and extreme aridity amount to I46.35km~2.Xinji-ang is the most arid area in China,The law of the distribution of dry andhumid in space is obvious with the characteristics of relatively humid in Nor-thern Xinjiang and extreme aridity in Southern part; comparatively humidin west part and coming to aridity in east part; relatively humidity on thewindward side and aridity on the leeward side; humidity in mountain areasand dry in plains.In addition, the yearly changes of the climate conditionof dry and humid might be divided into three types as stable, relative stableand unstable.
