A Preliminary Study on the Drought Resistance of Main Fuel Plants in the Loess Plateau

Wang Hansheng Fu Zuo Zhou Zesheng Li Li (Northwestern Institute of Soil and Water Conservation,Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Water Conservancy)  
A comprehensive evaluation on the drought resistance of 13 plants was made by analysing water physiological indices. The result indicated that the species with the best drought resistance were Astragalus adsurgens,Hippophae rhamnoides and Armeniaca sibirica, Amorpha fruticosa was poor in drought resistance as compared with other species. It was further proved that the bound water content of tissue was significant in distinguishing drought resistance of a plant. The result would provide the drought resistance basis for selecting energy-forest plants in the Loess Plateau.
