Effects of Nitrogen Nutrient on the Drought Adaptability of Tobacco Plants

In this paper,some responses of tobacco plants growing under different nitrogen contents to drought stress is lucubrated,which include the accumulation of free praline(Pro) and the change of malondialdehyde(MDA) content and membrane permeability in leaves of tobacco plants.The water status in tobacco leaves,plant growth and root-crown ratio of tobacco plants growing under different nitrogen contents and soil moisture contents are also analyzed.The results show that the water potential,relative water content,free water content and dry matter accumulation in tobacco leaves are decreased under drought stress,but the contents of Pro,MDA and bound water and the membrane permeability in tobacco leaves are increased,and these under applying nitrogenous fertilizer are significantly different from those under the conditions without applying nitrogenous fertilizer.The drought adaptability of tobacco plants can be changed by applying nitrogenous fertilizer,and the physiological drought tolerance of tobacco plants can be improved by applying nitrogenous fertilizer.Moreover,the root growth of tobacco plants and the dry matter accumulation in tobacco leaves can be increased by applying nitrogenous fertilizer.
