Land Expropriation Conflicts in Socio-Spatial Transformation on Urban Fringes

Ma Xueguang
Urban fringe is the frontier of spatial expansion. It has been a distinctly sensitive area in urban socio-spatial transformation. With the acceleration of urbanization, conflicts caused by land expropriation are becoming a critical issue. The article argues the conflict between land beneficiaries is a product of disjunctive socio-spatial transformation.Land expropriation procedure and institution lead to the conflicts."Public interest" connotation should be clarified from interest distribution, institution, procedure in land expropriation.Land value appraisal method, conflict prevention and adjustment mechanism should be established to promote land expropriation innovation and reform.
